As a surgical implant material application, titanium alloy rod has many advantages, such as low density, high strength, good toughness, good biocompatibility, non-toxic, low elastic modulus, good corrosion resistance, low X-ray absorption rate, and so on. Therefore, the role of medical metal materials is becoming more and more important.
Since its successful development, Ti-Ni alloy with unique shape memory properties has been used in stomatology, cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery,  hepatobiliary surgery, urology and gynecology, etc. Products include dental orthopedic wire, root canal file, spinal orthopedic rod, intramedullary needle, patella claw, guide wire, vascular stent, thrombus filter, esophageal stent, respiratory stent, biliary stent, urethral stent, rectal stent, duodenum stent, external ear canal stent, iUD ring, etc.
Among them, in the oral aspect, medical titanium and titanium alloys have been used in dental implants. With the rapid development of dental implant restoration technology, the development and research of dental implant materials are increasing.
Medical titanium and titanium alloy implants can not only form bone integration with bone (bone tissue and implant surface contact directly, no soft tissue intervention between them), but also can not cause local or systemic adverse reactions, teratogenicity, sensitization and carcinogenesis, and have good biocompatibility, mechanical properties and mechanical processing properties. It is an ideal material for dental implant.
At present, the domestic titanium and titanium alloy professional production enterprises in the titanium bone, titanium stent and other human implant materials research has achieved good results. A variety of medical titanium alloys independently developed by three major domestic metal research institutes have been used in surgical implants and vascular stents.
According to industry insiders, titanium and its alloys can be used for human hard tissue repair and replacement, or for cardiovascular and soft tissue repair as well as the manufacture of artificial organs, making it a special functional material closely related to human life and health. At present, it has become the preferred metal material for replacement or repair products such as artificial joints, artificial bones, broken bone fixator, spine correction rod, bone marrow nails, artificial heart valves, dental implants, cranium and so on.
