Blue baking process of titanium alloy rod

The precise composition of the atmosphere is crucial because it directly affects the formation of the blue oxide layer. Depending on the desired oxide thickness and the particular alloy being processed, the rod is heated for a specific duration, usually ranging from a few hours to a few days.

 

When the rod is heated, the surface of the titanium alloy reacts with the controlled atmosphere, resulting in the formation of a thin oxide layer. This layer is responsible for the blue character of the process, hence the name. The thickness of the oxide layer can be controlled by adjusting the temperature and duration of the heat treatment. Generally, a thicker oxide layer enhances corrosion resistance and improves bonding properties.

 

Blue oxide has a variety of uses. First, it acts as a protective barrier, protecting the underlying titanium alloy from corrosive elements in the environment. This is especially beneficial in applications where the rod is exposed to harsh conditions, such as Marine or aerospace environments. In addition, the oxide layer improves the adhesive properties of the titanium alloy, making it easier to bind to other materials or coatings. In addition, the blue baking process enhances the beauty of the titanium alloy rods. The vivid blue color adds visual appeal, making titanium rods more attractive in certain applications, such as jewelry or high-end consumer goods.
