Characteristics of titanium tubes

At present, the manufacturing process of titanium tube on the market has been basically mature, but the use of titanium tube has been restricted by the cost, especially for the thin-wall tube, high strength pipe, long pipe and other specific requirements of the production of titanium seamless tube is more difficult, complex equipment, long cycle, low yield. So, titanium welded pipe fittings came into being.

Titanium tubing is not corrosion-free in service environments. Some scholars found that after 15 years of service, both internal and external surfaces of pure bowl condenser tubes had serious corrosion perforation and edge rupture. In addition, in the assembly and application process of titanium pipe, it is often necessary to bend, weld, end processing and so on. Due to the high flexion ratio, the titanium pipe has obvious springback during bending. Excessive springback makes it difficult to control the precision of the titanium pipe.

Due to strong chemical activity, high melting point, poor thermal conductivity and other physical and chemical properties, titanium tubes are easy to produce defects such as pores and cracks during welding, which requires high requirements for welding equipment and protection devices. These are the factors that restrict the wide application of titanium seamless pipe.

In the process of pipe processing, the deformation basis of the pass obviously affects the property of the pipe. Large deformation basis can not only improve the production efficiency and the purpose can be better to break the coarse as-cast structure, so that the pipe grain fine and uniform, but the assembly will increase the forming resistance of the pipe, the deformation heat leads to local temperature rise, so that the deformation is not uniform, the grain growth is abnormal. Reasonable deformation star can form texture in radial, axial and circumferential direction of the pipe, so as to improve the performance.

Reasonable annealing process, straightening process with high efficiency of oil removal method are the key to ensure the quality of titanium pipe parts.
