Mechanical and physical properties of titanium in the process of titanium tube and titanium plate:
1. The elastic modulus of titanium is relatively low compared with its tensile performance, so a large rebound allowance must be considered in the operation of compression and roller. It is precisely because of the lower modulus of elasticity that the cross-section of titanium parts is slightly larger than that of the same steel parts in order to achieve the same degree of stability.
2. Titanium is easy to machined, but to consider its bite and stick tendency and low heat conduction performance, it is necessary to improve the commonly used machining technology and thread, supporting surface design. At least there should be rigid machine tools, sharp tools, when using slow speed, and leave room for chip removal, but also recommend the use of a large number of cooling lubricants.
3. The thermal expansion coefficient of titanium is 75% that of carbon steel. Special attention should be paid to this in equipment design and manufacture where the combination of these two materials is required.
4. Because titanium is a kind of active metal, when heated to more than 600℃, it is easy to combine with oxygen in the air, so titanium is generally not recommended for long-term use above this temperature.
5. The mechanical strength of industrial pure titanium decreases rapidly when the temperature exceeds 150~200℃.
6. Soft industrial pure titanium is easy to be cold formed after annealing, while hard industrial pure titanium and Ti2.5Cu require medium temperature processing, and the processing temperature for Ti6Al4V is 600~700℃.
7. Composite plate can be obtained by explosive welding of thin titanium plate and thick steel plate, which can be used to manufacture high-pressure and high-temperature vessels and heat exchangers. But it's not economically viable to replace the whole titanium or the titanium lining of a suit.
