When it comes to titanium alloy, a large number of customers have understood the advantages and uses of titanium alloy, this article introduces the knowledge of titanium alloy target weldability, hoping to help you understand titanium alloy products more clearly and in detail.

(1) Embrittlement caused by contamination of gap elements

Titanium has strong chemical activity at high temperature. Titanium rapidly absorbs oxygen above 600, and nitrogen above 700. Therefore, if titanium is not effectively protected in the welding process and post-welding cooling process, it will inevitably lead to plasticity decrease and brittleness increase. The mass fraction of carbon in general titanium material is controlled below 0.1%. When carbon exceeds its solubility, it forms hard and brittle TiC, which is distributed in a network and easily causes cracks.

(2) thermal crack

Because the impurity content of titanium and titanium alloy is small, it is not easy to produce hot cracks. However, if the quality of welding wire is not qualified, especially if the welding wire has cracks, interlayers and other defects, and there are a lot of impurities, it may cause welding hot cracks.

(3) porosity

Porosity is a common defect in welding titanium and titanium alloys. Generally, there are two types, the middle of the weld hole and the fusion line hole. When the energy of welding line is large, the porosity is usually located near the fusion line. The main reason for the formation of weld pores is the welding area, especially because the butt face is polluted by water and grease.
