Welding methods for zirconium sheets:
(1) Polishing before welding: the welds are wiped clean with oil and dirt in the range of 80mm on both sides of the groove with acetone, and then polished with stainless steel wire wheel and remove the oxide skin in the range of 30mm on both sides of the groove until the metallic luster is exposed.
(2) Positioning of welds: Assemble as shown in Figure 1. Perform positioning welding on the back of the weld. The length of the positioning weld is 50mm and the positioning welding distance at both ends of the welds should be left blank. An arc guide plate and an outlet plate are arranged at both ends of the weldment. (3) Install the copper backing plate with groove: Install the copper backing plate with groove on the welded parts after positioning welding.
Pay attention to the following points when welding:
(1) Before welding arc ignition, argon gas should be put into the gasket, tow cover and nozzle of welding torch to clear the air there, and then arc ignition.
(2) Select according to welding parameters.
(3) The heating end of the welding wire should be carried out in the argon protective layer when filling the welding wire droplet into the weld pool.
(4) During welding, the heat input energy should be concentrated to heat the welds and speed up the cooling speed, so as to avoid the long-term oxidation of zirconium welds at high temperature.
(5) Welding should be carried out in the argon box as far as possible.
