 Molybdenum rod density of 10.2 g/cu cm, melting point 2610℃, boiling point 5560℃. Molybdenum is a transition element, which can easily change its oxidation state and has a stable valence of +6.

Molybdenum is mainly used in iron and steel industry, most of which are directly used in steel making or cast iron after industrial molybdenum oxide pressing block, a small part of the smelting into ferro molybdenum and then used in steel making. The content of molybdenum in low-alloy steel is no more than 1%, but this aspect of consumption accounts for about 50% of the total molybdenum consumption. Molybdenum added to stainless steel can improve the corrosion resistance of steel. The strength and wear resistance of iron can be improved by adding molybdenum to cast iron. Nickel base superalloy containing 18% molybdenum has the characteristics of high melting point, low density and small thermal expansion coefficient. It is used in the manufacture of various high temperature components in aviation and aerospace. Molybdenum metal is also widely used in electronic devices such as electron tubes, transistors and rectifiers.

Molybdenum products are widely used in industry. Pure molybdenum wire for high temperature furnace and EDM and wire cutting processing; Molybdenum flakes are used to make radio equipment and X-ray equipment; Molybdenum crucible for rare earth refining; Molybdenum alloy tip is used as the hot perforated tip of seamless steel pipe; Molybdenum and molybdenum alloy are resistant to high temperature ablation, mainly used in the manufacture of heat flow, gun bore, rocket nozzle, light bulb tungsten wire support.
